7 Things I Miss Today

December 5, 2009

Listening to BNL’s holiday record this morning and dancing around the house with my baby daughter, and I’m just kinda sad that Steven Page left Barenaked Ladies. It got me thinking about this stuff on a Saturday morning.

List of Completely Superficial Little Things I Miss by Tim Miles

  1. Barenaked Ladies w/ Steven Page
  2. New episodes of The West Wing
  3. Jolly Roger pizza in Urbana, IL
  4. Quisp cereal
  5. Pilot Execugel pens
  6. The Apple Extended Keyboard II
  7. Intellivision

How about you? What do you hope makes a comeback (that totally won’t affect the outcome of world peace or anything)?

UPDATE: Here’s another - sending and receiving handwritten notes and letters in the US mail. I can do something about this one … half of it anyway.

I miss album covers. Growing up with older brothers in the 70’s, I never really understood them (the brothers or the covers) but I remember enjoying sneaking into their rooms to check them out.

#2 only if they are written by Aaron Sorkin.
In the same category, new episodes of Gilmore Girls but only if they are written by Amy Sherman Palladino.
Mix tapes; iTunes took all the fun and skill out of it with playlists.

I’m smiling at number 6 : )

My blessed older brother gave me an old school Apple Extended Keyboard and loaned me his Griffin iMate adapter so I could try out the keyboard and decide if I wanted to spring for an adapter off of e-bay (they’re like $40, which is more than a lot of entire keyboards). Needless to say, I’m now hooked, hooked, hooked! Can’t understand how anyone can go without the clack-clonk of a mechanical switch keyboard.

If you really miss the old extended keyboards, Tim, you should look into the Mattias Tactile Pro keyboard: http://matias.ca/tactilepro3/index.php
