Want To Be A Sales Wizard?

February 18, 2010

Do you simply think … no, do you simply know there has to be a better way to sell?

Cookie cutter, flip-flip-flip chart selling isn’t working anymore. And you never liked it anyway, right? So, this is really a fantastic time to be in sales and be you!

Would you like to be one of twelve to step out onto the skinny end of the branch in May and learn about Selling Customers Their Way - the newest course at Wizard Academy in Austin, Texas (where I’ll be next week, and where the scheduled high temp is 40 degrees higher than my scheduled high temp … yes, please).

The course takes place on May 5th and 6th, and it’s taught by two sharp, street-smart sales superstars: Dennis Collins and Ken Brand.

Over the years, Ken Brand’s become a friend. He’s stupid successful, but he’s done it in such a positive, good, and honorable way that you cheer his success at every step. He’s a great cheerleader of everyone around him, and he never takes any real credit himself.

Like a great point guard, Ken makes everyone around him better. I suspect you’ll feel yourself improving in his presence immediately. Resist the urge to rub his nose for good luck. You’ve been warned.

I pestered Ken to answer a few simple questions about the class. I will tell you Roy has yet to promote it to the 41,000 readers of the memo, and when he does, you’ll practically hear the class zip up tight and closed.

Check out what Ken has to say, then check out the complete course description and what you’ll take away.

Then, if you’re ready to recast your selling future, I’d sign up quickly. You know know what they say - fortune favors the quicker signer uppers.

5 Quick Questions with Ken Brand, Academy Faculty, Sales Jedi, Rockstar & Irrepressible Raconteur

#Ken #Brand #Awe #Some

Tim: Why does the world need this class right now, Ken? Why do you think there’s a need?

Ken: Good question Timmy. Bottom line. Chasing, capturing, churning, burning, telling and status-quo selling is as dead and dirt.

Our class wasn’t created for the world wide masses. It’s created for the uncomfortable connectors, achievers and leaders who sense what you and I know. What used to work, doesn’t work so well today. Most definitely it won’t work at all in the future.

Competition, perceptions, expectations, how we connect, share, serve and sell have changed forever. If we choose the status-quo of no-grow, we’re screwed. That’s why we developed the Selling Customers Their Way class.

Tim: Who the heck do you think you are to be teaching it? What qualifies you to teach it?

Ken: Is this a trick question Tim? What do you mean, “Who do I think I am?”

  1. I am the greatest of all time!
  2. I an NUMBER ONE.
  3. I am a glittering God!
  4. I am Bigger, Better and Faster.
  5. I am whip-smart and handsome and funny.

If I yammer on and on and on and on, you’ll puke in no time. Right? That’s the point. It’s a new world. Nobody gives a crap about what I think about myself. People want to know what I can do for them. They want to know, “Do I think they are NUMBER ONE”. Can they trust me? Will I crawl across cut glass to get the job done? Am I an expert? Am I passionate? Do I understand them? Do I listen? What do others say about me?

See Timmo, this is what I’m talking about. It’s a new world. We can’t go around bragging and boasting or people will think we’re d—-bags. We live in a new world, a Show Me world.

How to thrive in a Show Me world is the primary focus of our class.

To answer your question directly (finally), I have had 31 years of sales, communication, leadership and marketing experience in one of the worlds most rough and tumble, pay-for-performance, professions - Residential Real Estate. I wouldn’t expect anyone to read this little ditty, swoon and throw cash, I expect they’d do some homework and check me out…then sign-up.

If I was them, I’d start my homework by Googling my name, “Ken Brand”. I’d visit my blog, BrandCandid.com. I’d discover something about my personal life. I’d check out my involvement with Social Media. Then, if someone liked what they learned, and they thought that Dennis and I could help them recast their future sales success, they should join us and 11 other wild eyed, Selling Customers Their Way tribe members.

Tim: What will attendees take away from the course? Why should I get my happy butt on a plane to come see you?

Ken: Our selling future hinges on our abilities to create hot attraction and trust, candid conversation and connection, persuasive story telling, sharing and service. Dennis and I are sharing the simple principles behind the Science and the subtle Art of Persuasion and Street Smart Selling.

Sheepel who feel satisfied and safe should stay home, save their money and our time. Open minded rebels, sales-rebels who understand the importance of re-invention, should sign-up, hop on a plane and learn how to Sell Like Hell.

Tim: What’s the truest thing you know about selling?

Ken: Nobody buys, remembers or recommends mediocre.

If you walk, talk and act, average and ordinary, you’ll starve.

Tim: If I were starting a sales career today, what one piece of advice would you give me?

Ken: My bad, I have four bits of advice.

  1. Fail faster, succeed sooner.
  2. Hope is not a strategy, get a plan, work you plan.
  3. Business is CHAGNE, that’s all there is. If you can’t reinvent yourself, you’re screwed.
  4. Join us in Austin.
